Buying computing at EOFY sales
- Computers, monitors and office furniture see their best mid-year prices, and a purchase before 30 June may be deductible if it is for work.
- Stocktake clearance means older models; check the model year before assuming it is current.
- Health insurance and other services push June sign-up offers; compare the ongoing price, not the introductory one.
- Check the CPU socket, power supply wattage and case size before buying components or a PC build.
- A 'was' price on a PC build can reflect an older configuration, so compare the exact parts listed.
- Software deals can be one-time licences or subscriptions, so read which one it is before buying.
- For monitors, check refresh rate, panel type and whether the price includes the stand and cables.
- Wi-Fi routers need a speed plan that matches your internet, so a faster router won't help on a slow connection.
