Before you buy
Buying hobbies & crafts
- Craft and art supplies are sold in grades (student and artist); check which grade the sale price is for.
- Fabric and yarn are sold by the metre or the ball; compare the per-unit price and check the dye lot on a multi-ball order.
- Instruments bought online often need a setup; a cheaper guitar with a free setup can beat a dearer one without.
- Check the age rating and the piece count on puzzles and games, and whether a kit includes the tools it needs.
Policies change. Each note says when we read it; check the store’s own page before relying on it.
