Terms and community guidelines

Plain rules, written to be read. Using the site means you agree to them.

What the site is

Fair Go Finds lists deals found by members and read from retailers’ own product listings, with a price history for each one. It does not sell anything. Every purchase happens on the retailer’s site, under the retailer’s terms, and the retailer is who you deal with for delivery, returns and warranties.

Prices change

A price is right at the moment it was checked and may be wrong a minute later. Stock runs out, codes stop working, and retailers correct mistakes. Always check the price on the retailer’s page before you buy. The price verdicts are worked out from the history the site has recorded, as explained on How we check prices; they are an opinion based on that record, not a guarantee that no lower price exists anywhere.

Posting rules

  • Be honest about the price. Post the price you actually saw, including delivery if it is not free, and the real “was” price if you give one.
  • Disclose your own interest. If a link is your referral link, or you work for or are paid by the store, say so in the post. Undisclosed referral links are removed.
  • One account per person. No second accounts to vote up your own deals, vote down competitors or dodge a ban. Vote on the deal, not the poster.
  • Post deals, not adverts. A deal is a specific product at a specific price. Store-wide marketing, “up to” sales with nothing good in them, and anything you are posting because you were asked to are not deals.
  • Link to the store. Not to a redirect, a shortened link, a marketplace listing that hides the seller, or a page that needs a login to see the price.
  • Keep it legal and safe. No counterfeit goods, no grey-import medicines, no weapons that need a licence, nothing that breaks Australian law, and no price-error exploits that rely on a retailer honouring a mistake.
  • Comments are for the deal. Disagree with the deal, not the person. No abuse, no doxxing, no spam.

How moderation works

Reports from members take a deal down automatically once enough weight is behind them; moderators can also hold, edit or remove any deal or comment, and can ban accounts. Posts are checked after they go up, not before, so a bad post may be visible for a while. Repeated or deliberate breaches of the rules above mean a ban, and sockpuppet accounts are removed together. Decisions can be questioned by email to deals@fairgofinds.au.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it you let Fair Go Finds show it, keep it, and include it in alerts, digests, feeds and shared links, with your handle, for as long as the site exists. Do not post text or images you do not have the right to share. Retailer names, logos and product images belong to their owners and are shown to identify the deal.

For retailers

Prices are read from your public product listings at the rate your robots.txt allows, and never from behind a login. If you want a listing corrected or removed, or your site left alone entirely, the contact page says how; it takes an email, not a lawyer.

What the site does not promise

The site is provided as it is, free of charge. It is not responsible for a purchase that goes wrong, a price that was wrong, a code that did not work, or a deal that had ended. To the extent the law allows, that is the whole of its liability; nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. The site may change, pause or close at any time.

The legal bits

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia. The privacy policy and disclosure are part of them. When they change, the date at the top changes, and a change to the posting rules is announced on the site.
