Before you buy
Buying kids & baby
- Check the age recommendation and small-parts warnings for young children.
- Prams, cots, car seats and high chairs must meet the Australian standard; check the label and the sticker, not just the listing.
- Check whether a toy needs batteries or extra parts, and whether they're included.
- Mid-year and pre-Christmas toy sales at the big retailers are when the headline prices appear; the same toys are rarely cheaper in December.
Policies change. Each note says when we read it; check the store’s own page before relying on it.
