Before you buy

Buying musical instruments

Beginner bundles include a bag, tuner and strap that are worth little; price the instrument on its own.
Digital pianos are rated by the number of keys and the action (weighted or not); 88 weighted keys for anyone learning seriously.
Instruments are fragile freight; ask how the store packs them and whether insurance is included.

Policies change. Each note says when we read it; check the store’s own page before relying on it.
